Want best tall flowers on a contemporary entryway?

I am attempting to cheer up my entrance and I am obsessed with the appearance of Gladiolus. I discovered some beautiful tall vases made of ceramics on abodelook that would perfectly match them, although I am concerned that they will be overweight. How can anybody have suggestions on how to set these to not to topple the vase over, or is it better to use shorter stems?
