Size and dimensions?
-
Hello, I was wondering how can I get the size and dimensions of the 3D object that I am working on? And which tool other than the calliper could I measure with as I want the size in cm, in, or mm and not the distance.

Hi contract-west,
Thanks a lot for this great question, I leave it here in the feature request, even it sounds more like a question.
The Caliber is the designated measure tool to get the distance between two points. Not what you want, but that is the default tool.
You would like to click on an object and get the XYC dimension in an info box on the screen.
To get this, although it is not available, you need to call up a cube and adjust its length to the size of the object in question.
While it is not "made editable" (meaning the object stays parametrically and is not turned into polygons), the parameters of this cube will show the x, y, and z sizes. My best wishes.

I would also really like to know what units my models are measured in, and how to even find that out. None of the menus seem to actually tell me what size my selected object is. It makes modelling anything hard when you don’t know whether the overall model is the size of a mouse or a mountain. I just discovered this app and feel like I can’t make use of it until this is figured out, and the calliper tool does nothing except spit out some arbitrary number. This seems to be the only thread that touches on this problem
