Any attempted to cultivate Crocosmia on smaller planters? Need some advice.

I am seeking to bring a little bit of color to my patio during summer and continue to see these gorgeous red and orange types of Lucifer. I have been window shopping the garden shop on abodelook and there are some wonderful outdoor plants there, I was wondering though has anyone grown Crocosmia in a pot? I fear they will be too thick or fail to bloom properly being out of the earth. I am considering having them with some of the smooth ceramic planters that I viewed in their site to retain the mood of the modern garden. Love to know your tips on soil or drainage in case you have made it work!
