The painting in Forger is based on Vertex paint. It doesn't use any texture file internally for this.
The texture export is then file-based, and after checking with the Forger team (hence the delay based on the weekend), this is not changeable inside the application.

However, if you save it as a Cinema 4D file, the Vertex Colors are stored in a Vertex Tag. This means that all the data you have provided in Forger is available.
The texture can be baked to a higher resolution depending on the Mesh density.

I assume you refer to Forger Classic as the old one and Forger 2024 as the new one.

I would focus on the Forger 2024 version, as the features have improved and optimized for newer OS versions and CPUs inside the iPad. When you have explored the Classic, you might find here a nice list of the new features:

In Forger, the measurements are just units. If you send it to Cinema 4D, it will translated along your project settings.

If you have the Cinema 4D default to centimeter, it will be one centimeter (Forger 1.0)

If your C4D Project>Scale is set to 1 Kilometer, it will be 100000cm.

The project scale and size matter in Cinema 4D when you work with parts of the app that need practical measurements, like Simulation, Dynamics, etc.
While you import the Forger object, you can adjust the scale as well.

Find what works best for your objects in Forger, then find the scale factor for both ways if needed, and stick with it.

The Dissolve tool, simply said, does not merge; it typically takes away definitions in a certain area of the model. Merging, from my point of view, would be more about creating a connection between or among polygons while not reducing the details.

The typical result of the Dissolve in Forger is an N-Gon, which has some advantages during modeling, but anything after modeling might produce questionable results. Typically, the mesh is triangulated inside the render engine, which might not be how it is preferred. N-Gons are polygons with more than four points to define the boundary edges. If two polygons are dissolved in an N-Gon, the amount of boundary (island) points does not change.
(Many three or 4-point polygons in a group are not an N-Gon.)

If the trouble you encounter is not a workflow but based on technical problems, like hardware or software code). Here, I can guide you as much as possible through the steps.

I used the current releases and the same WiFi (same "band" and frequency)
In Cinema 4D, I have set up the Preferences> Extension> Forger File Transfer.
I restarted both apps after set up, and I was able to round-trip my model. I hope we get this done for you as well.

One question: can you airdrop files? (I presume an iPad to Mac workflow)
